Introduction
This article is to guide you on setting up the Bixolon Printer, which can print labels (they're especially useful for bubble tea businesses)!
Part I: Sticker Setup
Step 1.
Slide the two side tabs on the printer in the shown direction.
Step 2.
Stretch the sticker roll holders and insert the roll between holders and let go to allow the spring to clamp the roll in place.
Step 3.
Slide the roll into the L-shaped paper guides and close the lid ensuring a little piece of the label sticks out. Wait until the green/yellow LED stops flashing and press Feed button.
Step 4.
Plug both power and USB cables into their respective ports. Flip the power switch on the left side of the printer.
Step 5.
Both Android and iOS use the same app called “Bixolon: Label Artist”. You can search the app on AppStore and Google Play Store. Download the app to begin managing/editing your barcode labels.
Step 6.
Ensure that your Bixolon printer is plugged in and turned on. Now launch the app. It should automatically detect the printer and tap “OK” when a prompt pops up.
Part II: Edit/Create Barcodes (Omit this part if you don't print barcodes, skip to Part III)
Step 1.
Once the app launches, click on the first Square called “Basic Label”.
Step 2.
Here is where you design your layout. Whatever on this screen will be printed out on your label.
Step 3.
Tap the “Gear” icon on the bottom right to adjust label size. Adjust label size based on the size of the label you loaded in. Next tap on the “+” sign to add items on to the screen.
Step 4.
If you tap on the “Text” option a box called “Label” will appear. Double tap that box to edit the text. Once you have inserted a text of choice, simply drag the box around to the desired location.
If you tap “Barcode”, you can choose the barcode format you wish to use. Once you tap the format you can type in the barcode number. Once you are done press confirm and drag the barcode to the desired location.
Step 5.
Here is an example of a label. Once you have added items and text that you are satisfied. You may tap the “Print” Square next to the Gear button to print the label.
Part III: Connection To POS
A. Connection to Android.
Step 1:
Connect the printer to the terminal Via USB. Now open the StoreHub APP and sign in with your pin number. Now tap “Settings”.
Step 2:
Now tap Printer → on top right tap the 3 dot → tap search printer.
Below you should see Bixolon SLP-DX220. Tap on it and add the associated printer label to this printer. Now when you order items that are related to that label it will print from that printer.
B. Connection to iPad.
Step 1:
Plug both Power and Ethernet cables to their respective ports. Plug the other end of the Ethernet Port to their wifi router (or StoreHub Router).
Step 2:
Next on the StoreHub iOS app, click settings, and search printer. Once you see a name called 'Label Printer' tap on it to add the correct kitchen label to the printer and you are done.
