The routers that come with local Internet Service Providers (such as TM and Maxis) are not very suitable for commercial use because the Wi-Fi tends to drop occasionally. Since the iPad depends on Wi-Fi to send data to the receipt printer, a reliable connection is important. The speed doesn't need to be very fast, but it needs be consistent and reliable.
Therefore, StoreHub recommends using our powerful ASUS Router (RT-N12HP) which creates a separate Wi-Fi network just for the iPad POS and peripherals to communicate with one another, regardless of your store's Wi-Fi.
For our customers that do buy the ASUS N-12 routers, we've preconfigured these routers so all you have to do is plug them into your existing internet router and use the new dedicated Wi-Fi network.
What if I don't want to buy?
If you don't want to buy the ASUS N-12 router or already have another router to use, you could plug in the LAN cable from the printer directly into your existing router. To find out more on how to do so, please refer here.
